Installing didka on your website takes less than 5 minutes and requires no special technical skills. In this guide, we'll walk you through every step — from creating your account to verifying that sessions are being recorded correctly.

Prerequisites

To get started, you need two things: a didka account (free to create) and access to your website's HTML source code. You don't need any special hosting requirements or server-side configuration — didka runs entirely client-side through a lightweight JavaScript snippet.

If you use a CMS like WordPress, Shopify, or Webflow, you can install didka through their built-in code injection features. For custom-built sites, you'll add the snippet directly to your HTML template.

Installing the Script

After signing up, you'll receive a unique tracking snippet. Copy this snippet and paste it into the <head> section of your HTML, ideally just before the closing </head> tag:

The tracker is under 10KB — smaller than most analytics scripts — and loads asynchronously, meaning it won't block your page from rendering. Once installed, it automatically begins recording user sessions including clicks, scrolls, form interactions, and network requests.

Framework-Specific Instructions

Didka works with all major frameworks and platforms. For React, Next.js, Vue, or Nuxt projects, add the snippet to your root layout or _app.tsx file. For static HTML sites, add it directly to your template. For CMS platforms like WordPress, use the "Custom HTML" or "Code Snippets" plugin to insert the script globally.

Verifying Installation

After installing the script, visit your website and perform a few actions — click around, scroll, fill out a form. Then check your didka dashboard. You should see a new session appear within a few minutes. If you don't see any sessions, verify that the script is loading correctly by checking your browser's developer console for errors.

Privacy Configuration

Before going live, configure privacy settings to comply with your users' expectations and regulations like GDPR. You can mask sensitive form fields (passwords, credit card numbers), exclude specific pages from recording, or set data retention periods. These settings can be adjusted at any time from your dashboard. Once configured, start exploring session replay to see your first recordings.
